How Can Therapy Help Me?

Therapy can help when life is stressful, overwhelming or emotionally painful.  My problem solving approach starts with creating a customized plan to address the problems you face:

Anxiety and Panic Attacks

Depression, Postpartum Depression, Paternal Postpartum Depression

Marriage Counseling or Couples Counseling

Grief and Loss

Parenting, Step-parenting, Single Parenting

Separation, Divorce, Post Divorce Recovery

Singles and Dating

ADD/ADHD

Binge Eating

Food Addiction

Codependency

Perfectionism

Highly Sensitive Person/ Empath

How Long Does The Therapy Process Last?

The length of treatment depends on your needs, expectations and your goals.  Some clients attend therapy for a short period of time, while others choose to attend for several months, or longer, depending on their own needs and requirements.  I usually recommend one time per week to start, then move to every other week, and then as needed.  I always welcome clients back for a tune up if and when the need arises.

How Do I Contact You to Get Started?

You may email me to schedule a free 15 minute consultation or to schedule an appointment.  Email is preferred, as it allows me to send you a list of currently available times to schedule your consultation or appointment.  You can then let me know what works best for you and I send you an email confirmation.  I check my email several times per day, so I will reply back as soon as possible.  Please keep in mind there may be some delay, as I may have numerous sessions throughout the day, but you will get a response, usually by the end of the day if not sooner.

Do You Take Insurance?

I am an "out of network provider" for most insurance plans.  Therefore, if you have out of network benefits, you may be reimbursed by filing your claims directly with your insurance company.  Please see my Insurance page on my website for a more detailed explanation and a list of recommended questions to ask your provider.

What Happens In The First Counseling Session?

Please know that I understand that you may feel nervous and uncomfortable about seeking therapy.  I will do everything possible to provide a safe and supportive environment beginning with our very first meeting.  In the first session, we will discuss your history, as well as an overview of the current problems and issues that bring you to see me.  Toward the end of the very first session, I will share my observations and feedback regarding how I see the problem and make recommendations regarding your treatment and how to move forward.  We will decide if we think it is a good fit, and if it is, then it will be your decision as to whether you would like to move forward.

How Many Counseling Sessions Will I Need?

This is a difficult question to answer and it really depends on the nature of the problem and the severity of the problem.  I usually have a better idea once once we meet or have our first phone session.  It is my goal to help you achieve results as quickly and effectively as possible.

I Offer Phone Sessions, FT and Zoom sessions to all residents of CA.

How Long Do The Therapy Sessions Last?

A typical session is for 50 minutes, although you may choose to schedule an extended or double session if you feel the need.  Sometimes an extended session is recommended if there is a crisis, or if you have traveled a long distance and want to extend or double up your sessions.  You may also schedule a half day or full day for more intensive treatment when in crisis or simply to accelerate your results.  Marriage or relationship counseling is often scheduled for an extended or double session,  however I leave it to you to decide.

What If My Partner Or Spouse Refuses To Attend Marriage Counseling or Couples Counseling?  Can I Participate Alone?

Yes, you can definitely come alone.  This is much more common than you think.  Please see my Couples Counseling website page for more information.

What Are Your Fees?

Please email me to discuss fees.  If you are seeking reimbursement from your insurance company, please keep in mind that I am an out of network provider.  Please see my Insurance page for an explanation of what that means and what specific questions to ask your provider to determine what, if and how much you will be reimbursed.

Do You Offer a Free Consultation for Counseling?

Yes, I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation
